Lions Clubs International founded on 17th June 1917 by 38 year Old Leading Businessmen named ”Melvin Jones” from Chicago, USA. Lions Clubs International is a Non-Political world largest service organization with Over 1.45 Million members in more than 47,000 clubs actively serving men and women as Lions in more than 210 countries and geographical areas. The Name ”LIONS” stands not only for fraternity, good fellowship, strength of character and purpose, but above all, its combination of L-I-O-N-S heralds to the country the true meaning of Citizenship:
L – LIBERTY, I – INTELLIGENCE, O – OUR, N – NATION’S, S – SAFETY
Lions serve, our motto is ”WE SERVE” founded in 1917, we are best known for fighting blindness(Vision), feed the Hungry, develop Youth skills & leadership(Leos), care for the Environment, detecting Child Cancer, screening Diabetics but also aid Seniors & Disable. Lions are a global service network of volunteers that make a difference in their local communities. In 1945 we were one of the first Non-Governmental organizations invited to assist in the drafting of the United Nations charter and have supported the work of the UN ever since.
District 306 has been allocated for Sri Lanka since 1958 chartering the First Lions Club ”Colombo Host” and Subdivided to Six Districts in 2015 defining geographical territory to render better service for the needy with the growth of Lionism. Our ”District 306 A2” geographically territories Part of Colombo, Kaluthara, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Ratnapura and Entire Monaragala District, is 100% involved with the humetrian services rendered to the community by individual Lions Club as a team conducting various humanitarian projects throughout the year which will be appreciated at the Annual District Convention by the District Governor to motivate our Lions.
A team appointed by District Governor of 306 A2 is actively involved in this process throughout the lionistic year. Lions are ready to serve without any reward Wherever, Whenever, Whatever and However our community needs Lions assistance.

In this Pandamic moment, Lions & Leos all around the District are confidently answering the call to service.
From giving food to healthcare workers to sending medical supplies where they’re needed most, Lions and Leos are finding new ways to show how compassion counts.
The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has had a variety of consequences on communities around the world.
Lions and Leos should follow WHO or local health authority health guidelines to ensure that they are serving safely wherever they are.
WE SERVE - REGARDLESS OF THE DIFFICULTY
During the coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic, over 2000 Lions in our District, along with 1.4 million Lions worldwide, are standing up to help their communities.
These new difficulties have changed the way we live, but our commitment to serve people in need remains as strong..
It’s a lovely thing and an incredible feeling for everyone involved when caring individuals together, roll up their sleeves, and take action to improve their communities.
Setting an example, nurturing relationships, and using compassion to make the world a better and different place are all part of being a caring Lion.
